Virtual Console Monday: April 7, 2008

It looks like Nintendo’s getting into the baseball mood as well as most people, since it’s giving VC users some Baseball on the Virtual Console. How nice of them!

This week, we get both Yoshi’s Cookie and Bases Loaded, both for the NES. Yoshi’s Cookie is a rather underwhelming puzzle game. Not much noteworthy to come out of it, and if you want it, chances are you’d be better off waiting until the SNES version of this game is added to the Console. Then, you can choose between the bargain bin version or the better version.

As with Bases Loaded, it’s a decent baseball game. One of the first of it’s time, and considering that it aged fairly well. If you want a quick, cheap game of baseball for your Wii, this is a great choice, considering the only other competition it has on the NES is Baseball, which is pretty much inferior in every way. If you want a better baseball game, though, you’ll probably enjoy the Neo-Geo’s Baseball Stars 2 instead.
