Take that, critics: Sonic gets even worse

New information has been released about the Sonic Unleashed, a game that was previously nothing more than a trademark, and gamers are quickly wishing that the game was still nothing more than a trademark. Rather than waiting for Bioware to step in and do damage control on the Sonic universe, Sega has lighted a time bomb called development that looks to ruin the hedgehog even further. What could possibly make Sonic worse than his appearance in 2006’s Sonic the Hedgehog, where he had a disgusting romance (besides the bad camera system)?

Yep. Sonic is going Twilight Princess on us and turning into a werewolf, according to these new screenshots from Sega Portal that they found on Sega’s FTP. How the hell does that even work? I’m sure we shouldn’t expect a full explanation, and I don’t really even want one.

According to The Sonic Stadium, the game will be a mix of Sonic the Hedgehog-esque action stages with some Secret Rings 2.5D-style gameplay thrown in. At some points, the gameplay will be interrupted for segments where you play as the Werehog. As Svend Joscelyne of TSS said in his post, “I don’t know whether to laugh or to cry.” It’s pretty sad when Sonic fans are left with those as their only two options, as opposed to, say, “happiness.”

I used to care about Sonic, and it pisses me off to no end to see Sega spending the last decade shitting all over their mascot.

UPDATE: After seeing a gameplay video, it appears that the majority of the game is played in a 2.5D perspective. At least they’re getting something right. Hopefully Sega will make me eat my words on this one.

Now, now, let’s just wait and taste it before we say it tastes like crap… although it certainly doesn’t look very tastey >_>.. but I thought the same thing about Sonic rush adventure and was proven wrong so we’ll just see how this turns out ;).

It’s really saying something when Sonic’s most faithful appearance of the decade is Super Smash Bros Brawl.

Nah, the Sonic Rush games were pretty good. This has potential…but I can’t see them getting it right considering how bad the story is.

Hopefully they’ll make a few revisions or something, I guess.
Not sure if you understood my post, but I meant that I didn’t think SRA would be good, but was proven wrong and I loved it!
Just incase there was any need of clearing up >_>.

Let’s just hope they can make this a decent game ;)

Wow…just when you think they can’t think of anything worse than 06, you get this, but then there’s the 2.5D in it… Hmmm… This will be interesting.
