Jack Thompson Defends Mass Effect, Also: Hell Freezes Over

January 28th, 2008 posted by Artis Oracle in General News

Many gamers, myself included, would never have even imagined a day like this in a thousand years. The man who crusaded against the infamous Hot Coffee mod in 2005, who blamed Virgina Tech on video games, and who was vocal about Manhunt 2, has defended Mass Effect in an email conversation with a reporter from Kotaku. Perhaps he has more pressing matters to worry about? I’m not sure, but either way, this is quite stunning from someone who is so bent on getting rid of any scrap of violence found in video games. The conversation can be seen by clicking on the link.

An interesting turn, but I find it hard to believe he’s still crusading this whole anti-video game attitude altogether.

Is he determined to make himself out to be more of an idiot each time? Anyone with any dignity would’ve just realized it’s not working.

    Bring on GTA 4!

Although I respect his opinion, I think he’s usually a moron. But, not only am I surprised he didn’t get all angry about how you can be gay, but also, what does he mean about “that guy who shot his mouth off about it”? What guy? The moron talking about the princess game?
