Manhunt 2 banned in UK
June 19th, 2007 posted by KJ in PlayStation 2, Wii
It’s a sad day when any game is banned, especially when that game was loads of fun and contained ample amounts of violence for anyone. According to Gamespot, Manhunt 2 for the Playstation 2 and the Wii has been banned in the UK by the British Board of Film Classification (BBFC). I don’t think a film classification group should have that kind of authority really, because they obviously don’t know what they’re talking about.
‘The reasoning behind the decision is that, according to BBFC director David Cooke, “Manhunt 2 is distinguishable from recent high-end video games by its unremitting bleakness and callousness of tone in an overall game context which constantly encourages visceral killing with exceptionally little alleviation or distancing. There is sustained and cumulative casual sadism in the way in which these killings are committed, and encouraged, in the game.”‘
“Unremitting bleakness and callousness of tone” sounds like a lot of fun to me, don’t really get where this violence bit comes in. Sorry UK, no mass killing of things for you.
